Following the decision by the Economy and Place Overview Scrutiny Committee on Wednesday to proceed with plans to relocate Llandudno Library from Mostyn Street to the new site at Venue Cymru, Janet Finch-Saunders MS, has expressed her disappointment that some local Councillors are simply not listening to residents and the hundreds who have signed petitions on this issue in the past and most recently.
Janet commented:
“The move of this prominent Llandudno Library to an inferior site will have a massive negative impact on many residents and indeed our visitors. With some reporting during the previous consultation that the relocation will make it impossible for them to access the library.
Janet continued:
“What is surprising is that they Mayor Councillor Mandy Hawkins, and a local elected councillor in Llandudno, has actually agreed with the Council Officers instead of listening to residents. In addition to the latest petition, a previous petition also collected over 1,800 signatures, showing the strength of opposition to this move. In my opinion, the Committee and Councillors are not listening to the views of their residents.
Janet added:
“I will continue to campaign for this decision to be reversed, and I would like to thank Councillors Harry Saville, Samantha Cotton and Jo Nuttall for consistently opposing this move.”

Parhaodd Janet:
"Yr hyn sy'n syndod yw bod y Maer, y Cynghorydd Mandy Hawkins, a chynghorydd etholedig lleol yn Llandudno, wedi cytuno gyda Swyddogion y Cyngor yn hytrach na gwrando ar drigolion. Yn ogystal â'r ddeiseb ddiweddaraf, casglodd deiseb flaenorol dros 1,800 o lofnodion, gan ddangos cryfder y gwrthwynebiad i'r cam hwn. Yn fy marn i, nid yw'r Pwyllgor a'r Cynghorwyr yn gwrando ar farn eu trigolion.
Ychwanegodd Janet:
"Byddaf yn parhau i ymgyrchu dros wrthdroi'r penderfyniad hwn, a hoffwn ddiolch i'r Cynghorwyr Harry Saville, Samantha Cotton a Jo Nuttall am wrthwynebu'r cam hwn yn gyson."
