Since Monday, 25th August, the proposed extension of the Controlled Parking Zone along the Parade, between Ty’n y Ffrith Road and Nant-y-Gamar Road, Llandudno has come into effect. However, motorists will not be charged until parking meters and signage have been installed.

Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has objected to this expansion. In April, she wrote to Councillor Charlie McCoubrey, Leader of Conwy County Borough Council, voicing concerns raised by residents and small businesses regarding the proposals. The approval of these plans clearly shows that Conwy County Borough Council is not listening to its residents.

Commenting on the approval of the expansion, Janet said:

“The approval to increase the Controlled Parking Zone along the Parade clearly demonstrates that Conwy County Borough Council is not listening to residents and business owners who, along with myself, have formally expressed serious concerns about this proposal.

“These new charges will place further strain on Craig-y-Don businesses, which are already under pressure from business rates and changes to employer National Insurance. It will also impact residents, who are concerned that this will lead to more people parking on residential streets instead.

“It is extremely disappointing and unacceptable that these concerns have not been listened to. Elected representatives have a duty to listen to the residents who put them in office.”

Ers dydd Llun, 25 Awst, mae'r estyniad arfaethedig i’r Parth Parcio a Reolir ar hyd y Pared, rhwng Heol Ty'n y Ffrith a Heol Nant-y-Gamar, Llandudno wedi dod i rym. Fodd bynnag, ni fydd modurwyr yn gorfod talu hyd nes y bydd y metrau parcio a’r arwyddion wedi'u gosod.

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi gwrthwynebu'r cam hwn. Ym mis Ebrill, ysgrifennodd at y Cynghorydd Charlie McCoubrey, Arweinydd Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy, gan fynegi pryderon a godwyd gan drigolion a busnesau bach ynglŷn â'r cynigion. Mae cymeradwyo'r cynlluniau hyn yn dangos yn glir nad yw Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy yn gwrando ar ei drigolion.

Gan gyfeirio at y cam i gymeradwyo'r ehangu hwn, dywedodd Janet:

"Mae'r gymeradwyaeth i gynyddu'r Parth Parcio a Reolir ar hyd y Pared yn dangos yn glir nad yw Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy yn gwrando ar drigolion a pherchnogion busnesau sydd, fel minnau, wedi mynegi pryderon difrifol yn ffurfiol am y cynnig hwn.

"Bydd y taliadau newydd hyn yn rhoi straen pellach ar fusnesau Craig-y-Don, sydd eisoes o dan bwysau yn sgil ardrethi busnes a newidiadau i Yswiriant Gwladol cyflogwyr. Bydd hefyd yn effeithio ar drigolion, sy'n poeni y bydd hyn yn arwain at fwy o bobl yn parcio ar strydoedd preswyl yn lle hynny.

"Mae'n hynod siomedig ac yn annerbyniol nad yw'r Cyngor wedi gwrando ar y pryderon hyn. Mae gan gynrychiolwyr etholedig ddyletswydd i wrando ar y trigolion sydd wedi’u hethol."
