Conwy County Borough Council have announced that the 4 paddling pools in the area will not reopen until next season, in 2024.

The pools have been closed to the public this year due to the level of repairs that are needed, and the repairs taking longer than anticipated.

You can read the Local Authority’s statement here.

Commenting on Conwy County’s failure to re-open the pools, Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, said:

“The council pride themselves on having 4 of the only 5 free to use paddling pools in North Wales, but what use is that if they are unusable to the public?

“With families encountering financial challenges every day, free attractions such as the pools were needed more than ever this summer.

“A whole season has almost gone by, and with one month left the council have finally confirmed that the pools will not be open until next year.

“These pools are so important to both local residents, and the many visitors and tourists that come to North Wales in the summer. It is unacceptable that all four have been out of use for the whole season. In fact, they could have built brand new pools in the time its taken to reach this point”.

Mae Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy wedi cyhoeddi na fydd 4 pwll padlo'r ardal yn ailagor tan y tymor nesaf, yn 2024.

Bu’r pyllau ar gau i'r cyhoedd eleni oherwydd lefel y gwaith trwsio sydd eu hangen, a bod hynny'n cymryd mwy o amser na'r disgwyl.

Wrth sôn am fethiant Sir Conwy i ailagor y pyllau, dywedodd Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy:

“Mae'r cyngor yn ymfalchïo yn y ffaith bod ganddyn nhw 4 o'r unig 5 pwll padlo rhad ac ddim yn y Gogledd, ond beth yw diben hynny os nad ydy'r cyhoedd yn gallu eu defnyddio nhw?

“Gyda theuluoedd yn wynebu heriau ariannol bob dydd, roedd angen atyniadau am ddim fel y pyllau padlo yn fwy nag erioed yr haf hwn.

“Mae tymor cyfan bron wedi mynd heibio, a gyda mis ar ôl, mae'r cyngor wedi cadarnhau na fydd y pyllau’n ailagor tan y flwyddyn nesaf.

“Mae'r pyllau hyn mor bwysig i drigolion lleol, a'r llu o ymwelwyr a thwristiaid sy'n heidio i ogledd Cymru yn yr haf. Mae'n annerbyniol bod y pedwar pwll ar gau gydol y tymor. Yn wir, gallen nhw fod wedi adeiladu pyllau newydd sbon yn yr amser a gymerwyd i gyrraedd y pwynt hwn”.
