Conwy Council Criticised for £255,000 Spend on Bodlondeb Business Case / Beirniadu Cyngor Conwy am wario £255,000 ar Achos Busnes Bodlondeb

Janet Finch-Saunders MS has criticised the decision by Conwy County Borough Council to spend £255,000 on a business case into closing its Bodlondeb headquarters in Conwy town.

The plan is to shut Bodlondeb, sell the building, and move staff to the £58m Coed Pella offices in Colwyn Bay.

The funds will be taken from capital reserves and used to develop a full business case detailing how staff will be moved and how Bodlondeb will be sold.

Commenting on the spend, Janet said:

“With the Conwy First, Welsh Labour, and Plaid Cymru Council having increased our council tax by a massive 10% we expect them to spend every single penny carefully.

“Throwing over quarter of a million pounds towards a business case, especially at this time of fiscal challenge, is yet another disgraceful example in Conwy where council taxpayers are being served by an inefficient and failing local authority.

“It shouldn’t take external parties to advise the management of Conwy Council how to move staff, and market Bodlondeb. There needs to be an urgent rethink on this spend”.

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders AS wedi beirniadu'r penderfyniad gan Gyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy i wario £255,000 ar achos busnes i gau pencadlys Bodlondeb yn nhref Conwy.

Y bwriad yw cau Bodlondeb, gwerthu'r adeilad, a symud staff i swyddfeydd £58m Coed Pella ym Mae Colwyn.

Bydd yr arian yn cael ei gymryd o gronfeydd cyfalaf ac yn cael ei ddefnyddio i ddatblygu achos busnes llawn a fydd yn manylu ar sut y bydd staff yn cael eu symud a sut y bydd Bodlondeb yn cael ei werthu.

Wrth sôn am y gwariant, dywedodd Janet:

“Gyda Chyngor Conwy, Llafur Cymru a Phlaid Cymru wedi cynyddu ein treth gyngor o 10%, sy’n enfawr, rydyn ni’n disgwyl iddyn nhw wario pob ceiniog yn ofalus.

"Mae taflu dros chwarter miliwn o bunnoedd tuag at achos busnes, yn enwedig ar yr adeg hon o heriau ariannol, yn enghraifft warthus arall yng Nghonwy lle mae trethdalwyr y cyngor yn cael eu gwasanaethu gan awdurdod lleol aneffeithlon sy’n methu.

"Ni ddylai partïon allanol orfod cynghori rheolwyr Cyngor Conwy ar sut i symud staff, a marchnata Bodlondeb. Mae angen ailfeddwl ar frys am y gwariant hwn".
