Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has spoken out about the need for constituents to make every effort to attend pre-booked GP appointments.
The Member’s calls come after it was disclosed by Mostyn House Medical Practice, Llandudno, that 454 patients did not attend their appointments in September.
The practice has asked people to cancel their appointments if they are unable to attend so that the slots can be offered to others.
Mostyn House saw 4,982 patients, handled 7,003 calls, and issued 24,290 items via prescription in September.
Supporting the medical practice, Janet said:
“I would like to praise the hard-working team at Mostyn House. The fact that they have seen around 5,000 patients is clear evidence that they are one of the pillars of our community.
“Whilst non-attendance at flu clinics has contributed to the high percentage of patients not attending appointments, everyone should make an effort to contact the practice should they not be able to attend.
“All of us have a responsibility to each other. By not attending an appointment we have arranged, we could be delaying care being provided to someone who is in urgent need of support.
“Our GPs and their medical teams are under huge strain, so I ask that all of us play our part to help ensure that practices can operate in the most effective way possible”.
ENDS
Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi siarad am yr angen i etholwyr wneud pob ymdrech i fynychu apwyntiadau meddygon teulu sydd wedi’u trefnu ymlaen llaw.
Daw galwadau’r Aelod ar ôl iddi ddod i’r amlwg gan Feddygfa Tŷ Mostyn, Llandudno, na fynychodd 454 o gleifion eu hapwyntiadau ym mis Medi.
Mae’r feddygfa wedi gofyn i bobl ganslo eu hapwyntiadau os na fedran nhw fynychu er mwyn gallu cynnig yr apwyntiadau i eraill.
Ym mis Medi, gwelodd Tŷ Mostyn 4,982 o gleifion, atebodd 7,003 o alwadau a rhoddodd 24,290 o eitemau ar bresgripsiwn.
Gan gefnogi’r feddygfa, dywedodd Janet:
“Hoffwn ganmol y tîm sy’n gweithio mor galed yn Nhŷ Mostyn. Mae’r ffaith eu bod wedi gweld oddeutu 5,000 o gleifion yn dystiolaeth glir eu bod yn un o gonglfeini ein cymuned.
“Tra bod peidio â mynychu clinigau ffliw wedi cyfrannu at y ganran uchel o gleifion nad ydyn nhw wedi mynychu eu hapwyntiadau, dylai pawb ymdrechu i gysylltu â’r feddygfa os na fedran nhw fynychu.
“Mae gan bob un ohonom gyfrifoldeb i’n gilydd. Trwy beidio â mynd i apwyntiad rydyn ni wedi’i drefnu, gallen ni fod yn rhwystro darpariaeth ofal i rywun sydd gwir angen gofal brys.
“Mae ein meddygon teulu a’u timau meddygol dan bwysau enfawr, felly rwy’n gofyn ar i bob un ohonom chwarae ein rhan er mwyn helpu i sicrhau y gall meddygfeydd weithredu yn y ffordd fwyaf effeithiol bosibl.”
