Llandudno Library

Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, is encouraging residents to take part in the Conwy County Borough Council consultation on the future of Llandudno library.

The UK Government announced a £10 million investment for Venue Cymru through the Levelling Up programme. This investment gives the Local Authority an opportunity to consider how they can maximise the benefits of the project for those that live, work and visit the County by considering how they can link services and work differently.

As part of this project and subject to democratic approval, the Local Authority want to consider moving Llandudno library into the Venue Cymru building.

Mrs Finch-Saunders MS, who has been supporting residents with serious concerns about the proposed move said:

“The library is a central hub in Llandudno, attracting over 85,000 visitors in 2023/24. It serves as a vital resource for community support, learning, wellbeing, and multi-service delivery.

“I am deeply concerned that any cost savings will reduce the effectiveness of services, and severely negatively impacting residents, tourists, and the entire town.

“Venue Cymru is not centrally located, and I doubt that the library will attract the same level of footfall from the high street.

“It is of considerable importance to our community that as many as possible respond to the Local Authority’s consultation”.

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, yn annog trigolion i gymryd rhan yn ymgynghoriad Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy  ar ddyfodol llyfrgell Llandudno.

Cyhoeddodd Llywodraeth y DU fuddsoddiad o £10 miliwn ar gyfer Venue Cymru drwy'r rhaglen Ffyniant Bro. Mae'r buddsoddiad hwn yn rhoi cyfle i'r Awdurdod Lleol ystyried sut i fanteisio i'r eithaf ar fuddion y prosiect i'r rhai sy'n byw, gweithio ac ymweld â'r Sir drwy ystyried sut mae modd cysylltu gwasanaethau a gweithio'n wahanol.

Fel rhan o'r prosiect hwn ac yn amodol ar gymeradwyaeth ddemocrataidd, mae'r Awdurdod Lleol am ystyried symud llyfrgell Llandudno i adeilad Venue Cymru.

Meddai Mrs Finch-Saunders AS, sydd wedi bod yn cefnogi trigolion gyda’u hamryw bryderon am y cam arfaethedig:

"Mae'r llyfrgell yn ganolfan bwysig yn Llandudno, gan ddenu dros 85,000 o ymwelwyr yn 2023/24. Mae'n adnodd hanfodol ar gyfer cymorth cymunedol, dysgu, lles a darpariaeth aml-wasanaeth.

"Rwy'n bryderus iawn y bydd unrhyw arbedion cost yn lleihau effeithiolrwydd gwasanaethau, ac yn cael effaith negyddol iawn ar drigolion, twristiaid a'r dref gyfan.

"Dyw Venue Cymru ddim mewn lleoliad canolog, ac rwy'n amau y bydd y llyfrgell yn denu'r un lefel o ymwelwyr o'r stryd fawr.

"Mae'n bwysig iawn i'n cymuned ni ymateb cymaint â phosib i ymgynghoriad yr Awdurdod Lleol".
