This week marks the February half-term holiday. Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has urged people to visit and support their local businesses and facilities over the week’s break.
Following this, Janet commented:
“Half-term holidays are a fantastic opportunity for people and families to go and support their local small businesses and facilities, which provide a range of activities and fantastic products that people of all ages can enjoy.
“We have seen our vital tourism and hospitality sector come under strain from policies by both the UK and Welsh Labour Governments, along with the damaging 182-day threshold that was introduced due to the Welsh Labour Government’s co-operation agreement with Plaid Cymru.
“With shops and a historic hotel in Llandudno closing due to lower visitor numbers and the increased costs of energy, food, and drink, we must show a collective effort in supporting our essential small businesses.
“By shopping locally and visiting our local amenities, such as libraries, leisure centres, and other businesses, we help to provide them with much-needed support. This will have a positive impact on both our local and Welsh economies.
“As we enjoy this time, I highly encourage everyone to think locally when looking for activities to do or an amazing day out.”

Mae'r wythnos hon yn nodi gwyliau hanner tymor mis Chwefror. Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi annog pobl i gefnogi ac ymweld â’u busnesau a'u cyfleusterau lleol dros wyliau'r wythnos.
Meddai Janet:
"Mae gwyliau hanner tymor yn gyfle gwych i bobl a theuluoedd gefnogi eu busnesau bach a'u cyfleusterau lleol, sy'n darparu amrywiaeth o weithgareddau a chynnyrch gwych y gall pobl o bob oed eu mwynhau.
"Rydyn ni wedi gweld ein sector twristiaeth a lletygarwch hanfodol yn cael ei roi dan bwysau, diolch i bolisïau Llywodraeth Lafur y DU a Chymru, ynghyd â'r trothwy niweidiol o 182 diwrnod a gyflwynwyd yn sgil cytundeb cydweithio rhwng Llywodraeth Llafur Cymru a Phlaid Cymru.
"Gyda siopau a gwestai hanesyddol yn Llandudno yn cau oherwydd llai o ymwelwyr a chostau cynyddol ynni, bwyd a diod, mae'n rhaid i ni fynd ati ar y cyd i gefnogi ein busnesau bach hanfodol.
"Trwy siopa'n lleol ac ymweld â'n cyfleusterau lleol, fel ein llyfrgelloedd, canolfannau hamdden, a busnesau eraill, rydyn ni’n helpu i ddarparu cymorth mawr ei angen iddyn nhw. Bydd hyn yn cael effaith gadarnhaol ar ein heconomïau lleol ac ar economi Cymru.
"Wrth i ni fwynhau'r wythnos, rwy'n annog pawb i feddwl am aros yn lleol wrth chwilio am weithgareddau i'w gwneud neu ddiwrnod allan anhygoel."
