Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has spoken of her delight at the success of her campaign to see transport provided for residents in Dolgarrog and Tal-y-Bont who Conwy County Borough Council had cut off from public transport.
The Local Authority has stated today:
“We are trialling a taxi service to shuttle bus passengers between Dolgarrog and Ty’n-y-Groes while the B5106 is closed for drainage improvement work. Please call 01492 642422 to book your seat. Monday – Friday 8am – 6pm. The current road closure is expected to finish on Friday 2 August”.
The decision to provide a taxi service follows the campaign by Mrs Finch-Saunders which saw her lead an online petition, a paper petition, and write to Cllr Charlie McCoubrey, Council Leader.
Commenting on the campaign success, Janet said:
“I am delighted that my campaign on behalf of the community has been successful.
“Conwy County Borough Council’s decision to cut off several communities from public transport was disgraceful.
“The distress caused to residents wanting to access GP appointments, hospital appointments, and other services is significant and unforgivable.
“I hope that the Leader of the Council, Cllr Charlie McCoubrey, and Cllr Goronwy Edwards, Cabinet Member for Infrastructure, Transport and Facilities, never allow such a shocking situation to happen again”.

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi sôn am ei llawenydd yn sgil llwyddiant ei hymgyrch i weld cludiant yn cael ei ddarparu i drigolion Dolgarrog a Thal-y-Bont ar ôl i Gyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy eu torri i ffwrdd o drafnidiaeth gyhoeddus.
Dywedodd yr Awdurdod Lleol heddiw:
"Rydyn ni’n treialu gwasanaeth tacsi i gludo teithwyr mewn bws wennol rhwng Dolgarrog a Thy'n-y-Groes tra bod y B5106 ar gau ar gyfer gwaith gwella draeniau. Ffoniwch 01492 642422 i archebu eich sedd. Dydd Llun - Gwener 8am - 6pm. Mae disgwyl i'r ffordd ailagor ddydd Gwener 2 Awst".
Daw'r penderfyniad i ddarparu gwasanaeth tacsi yn dilyn yr ymgyrch gan Mrs Finch-Saunders – fe arweiniodd ddeiseb ar-lein, deiseb bapur, ynghyd ag ysgrifennu at y Cynghorydd Charlie McCoubrey, Arweinydd y Cyngor.
Wrth sôn am lwyddiant yr ymgyrch, dywedodd Janet:
"Rwyf wrth fy modd bod fy ymgyrch ar ran y gymuned wedi bod yn llwyddiannus.
"Roedd penderfyniad Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy i dorri sawl cymuned i ffwrdd o drafnidiaeth gyhoeddus yn warthus.
"Mae'r gofid a achoswyd i breswylwyr sydd am gael mynediad at apwyntiadau meddygon teulu, apwyntiadau ysbyty, a gwasanaethau eraill yn eang ac yn anfaddeuol.
"Rwy'n gobeithio na fydd Arweinydd y Cyngor, y Cynghorydd Charlie McCoubrey, a'r Cynghorydd Goronwy Edwards, yr Aelod Cabinet dros Isadeiledd, Trafnidiaeth a Chyfleusterau, fyth yn caniatáu i sefyllfa mor druenus godi eto".
