Campaign Success: Phone Kiosk Saved in Cwm Penmachno

The campaign to save a phone box in Cwm Penmachno has triumphed.  This follows the work spearheaded by Janet Finch-Saunders, Assembly Member for Aberconwy, on behalf of around 90 concerned residents.

The positive news came in response to the letter Janet sent to the Public Affairs Director, and it is now understood that an engineer will visit the service to ensure that it is functioning properly.

Commenting on the situation, Janet said:

“This is a victory for Cwm Penmachno and rural connectivity.

“As I said previously, I am never prepared to stand by and see a community threatened with isolation, so it is brilliant that BT have now seen sense.

“They have acknowledged that mobile network coverage in this area is very patchy, and as such, that the kiosk should remain.

“Also, an engineer will be sent out to ensure that the equipment is working properly.

“The U-turn means that residents and visitors to the area now have a better chance of getting hold of emergency services should they be in need.

“I would like to thank the community for calling me in to act on their concern, and for their cooperation in campaigning to keep Cwm Penmachno connected”.
