Upon hearing the news that two local councillors have defected from the Welsh Conservative Party to Reform UK, Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has called for them to put democracy first, and “resign from Conwy County Borough Council and Llandudno Town Council so to allow the residents of Llandudno the opportunity to vote”.

Commenting, Janet said:

“Obviously, I am very disappointed by this news, having campaigned for both of them in previous elections.

“I wish Louise and Tom all the very best in their new high tax and high spend party.

“These glory hunters will soon realise that they have been misled by Reform Cymru. They have no track record in Wales, no polices to improve our health service, failing education system, nor putting an end to record breaking council tax increases in Conwy County.

“If they genuinely believe in democracy, they should resign from both Conwy County Borough Council and Llandudno Town Council so to allow the residents of Llandudno the opportunity to vote.

“I look forward to the by-elections and hope that as many parties as possible will stand to help convey how fake and frivolous the offer is by the followers of Farage. I will be out on the doorsteps”.
