Janet Finch-Saunders MS has urged the need for action, not empty words, when it comes to restoring local bus services.

The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy highlighted the gulf that the closure of the T19 service has left in local transport links.

It comes as Transport for Wales have promised a consultation to assess the demand for local services.

Speaking today, Janet said:

“Over two weeks ago the T19 between Llandudno and Blaenau Ffestiniog was terminated.

“Employees have been left unable to access work, students relying on private transport to get to school, and residents struggling to reach medical appointments.

“During a virtual meeting this morning, it was clear to all in attendance that Transport for Wales are overwhelmed.

“Their standard of communication with private bus operators is appalling, including emails not responded to in detail for weeks.

“What greater sign of TfW’s ineffectiveness than the fact that their action in relation to the stopping of the T19 is to plan local engagement events.

“They claim they need to assess whether the demand is there, but it’s clear from the overwhelming responses I’ve received that residents need actions, not more words.

“TfW have data from Llew Jones. We do not want more talking shops. We want and need a bus”.
