Janet Finch-Saunders, the Welsh Conservative Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and the Environment, wrote to the Counsel General and Minister for Delivery, Julie James MS, calling for the Penrhos Coastal Park to be preserved.

Janet commented:

“There are significant concerns about the future of Penrhos Coastal Park. The Save Penrhos Coastal Park Holyhead campaign group already has 11,000 members, and the number keeps growing.

“It is vital that the owners of Penrhos do not overdevelop the area, and that any and all developments undertaken are done sympathetically, with the coastal park, the environment, and wildlife in mind.

“The 500 lodges proposed in the planning permission are excessive and do not adhere to this, and risks impacting our vital environment. Which will become even more essential due to the impacts from climate change. As such, it is essential that all planning guidelines are followed to the letter, and that the protections for AONBs, SSSIs, and TPOs are fully adhered to.

“100,000 visitors a year visit Penrhos, many of whom are from my own constituency. As a result, it is essential that we preserve this precious local asset.”

Ysgrifennodd Janet Finch-Saunders, Ysgrifennydd Cabinet Gwrthblaid y Ceidwadwyr Cymru dros Newid Hinsawdd a'r Amgylchedd, at y Cwnsler Cyffredinol a'r Gweinidog Cyflawni, Julie James AS, yn galw am warchod Parc Arfordirol Penrhos.

Dywedodd Janet:

“Mae pryderon sylweddol am ddyfodol Parc Arfordirol Penrhos. Mae gan grŵp ymgyrchu Achub Parc Arfordirol Penrhos Caergybi 11,000 o aelodau eisoes, ac mae'r niferoedd yn mynd o nerth i nerth.

“Mae'n hanfodol nad yw perchnogion Penrhos yn gorddatblygu'r ardal a bod unrhyw waith datblygu yn cael ei wneud yn ystyriol; gyda'r parc arfordirol, yr amgylchedd a'r bywyd gwyllt mewn cof.

“Mae'r 500 o gabanau gwyliau a gynigir yn y caniatâd cynllunio yn ormod a dydyn nhw ddim yn cadw at hyn, ac maen nhw mewn perygl o effeithio ar ein hamgylchedd hanfodol. Bydd hyn yn fwyfwy hanfodol oherwydd effeithiau newid hinsawdd. Mae'n hollbwysig bod canllawiau cynllunio yn cael eu dilyn i'r llythyren a bod yr holl amddiffyniadau cyfreithiol a roddir i AHNE, SoDdGA a Gorchmynion Diogelu Coed yn cael eu cadw'n llawn.

"Mae Penrhos yn denu dros 100,000 o ymwelwyr y flwyddyn, llawer o fy etholaeth fy hun. O ganlyniad, mae'n hanfodol ein bod ni'n gwarchod yr ased lleol gwerthfawr hwn.”
