With parking tickets being issued to patients left with no-where official to park, Janet Finch-Saunders MS has spoken of the need to increase the parking provision at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor.

Parking fines are enforced by Cyngor Gwynedd's parking wardens.

Mrs Finch-Saunders previously campaigned to try and save the park and ride at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.

Commenting on the parking provision in Bangor, Janet said:

“When there are no spaces available and the appointment time is looming, stress levels for already unwell people rapidly increase and drivers are forced to park in inappropriate locations.

“To be clear, drivers would park in bays if they were available, but demand at Ysbyty Gwynedd often outstrips supply.

“For many constituents of Aberconwy the only realistic way of reaching the hospital in a reasonable time frame is by driving. The same is true for rural communities across North West Wales who rely on Ysbyty Gwynedd.

“What is completely unacceptable is that parking fines are being issued at a time when is it obvious that demand outstrips supply.

“Making money out of patients going to hospital, or those visiting loved ones, is morally wrong.

“Cyngor Gwynedd and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board should cooperate to pull together options to increase parking provision, such as park and ride, multistorey, or a further extension to the carparks. In the meantime, parking wardens should stop enforcing”.

Gyda thocynnau parcio yn cael eu rhoi i gleifion sydd heb unrhyw le swyddogol i barcio, mae Janet Finch-Saunders AS wedi sôn am yr angen i gynyddu nifer y llefydd parcio yn Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor.
Mae dirwyon parcio yn cael eu gorfodi gan wardeiniaid parcio Cyngor Gwynedd.

Mae Mrs Finch-Saunders wedi ymgyrchu hefud i drio achub y gwasanaeth talu a teithio yn Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.

Wrth sôn am y ddarpariaeth parcio ym Mangor, dywedodd Janet:

“Pan nad oes llefydd ar gael ac mae amser yr apwyntiad yn nesáu, mae lefelau straen pobl sydd eisoes yn sâl yn cynyddu'n gyflym ac mae gyrwyr yn cael eu gorfodi i barcio mewn llefydd amhriodol.

“I fod yn glir, byddai gyrwyr yn parcio mewn llefydd priodol pe bai'r rhain ar gael, ond mae'r galw yn Ysbyty Gwynedd yn aml yn llawer mwy na'r cyflenwad.

“I lawer o etholwyr Aberconwy, yr unig ffordd realistig o gyrraedd yr ysbyty mewn amser rhesymol yw drwy yrru. Mae'r un peth yn wir am gymunedau gwledig ar hyd a lled y Gogledd-orllewin sy'n dibynnu ar Ysbyty Gwynedd.

“Yr hyn sy'n gwbl annerbyniol yw bod dirwyon parcio yn cael eu rhoi ar adeg pan mae'n amlwg bod y galw yn fwy na'r cyflenwad.

“Mae gwneud arian allan o gleifion sy'n mynd i'r ysbyty, neu'r rhai sy'n ymweld ag anwyliaid, yn foesol anghywir.

“Dylai Cyngor Gwynedd a Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Betsi Cadwaladr gydweithredu i lunio opsiynau i gynyddu'r ddarpariaeth parcio, fel parcio a theithio, maes parcio aml-lawr, neu estyniad pellach i'r meysydd parcio. Yn y cyfamser, dylai wardeiniaid parcio roi'r gorau i orfodi”.
