Following the publication of the report to go, to the Economy and Place Overview and Scrutiny Committee tomorrow 2nd July at 5:30 pm.
Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, is calling on Councillors to reject any suggestions of moving Llandudno Library and Tourism Information Centre, and to side with thousands of residents on this matter.
Commenting on the consultation response, Janet said:
“It is absolutely nonsensical to move a well-established Library that has been in situ for over 150 years, AND the Tourism Information Centre unit in the Victoria Centre in Llandudno leaving them both empty.
“In financial terms this a dumb move and all costs will be borne by Council taxpayers themselves.
“Afterall, this is a decision that will impact Aberconwy as a whole.
“Over the past seven months I have submitted several FOIs (Freedom of Information Requests) and letters to the Head of Department Sarah Ecob, and the Council Leader Councillor Charlie McCoubrey, and have been less than impressed with their non/poor response. I believe there is a distinct lack of transparency and accountability regarding the current proposals. I intent to challenge any poor and all decisions made.
“Council Officers, and more so, democratically elected Politicians MUST NEVER forget who they are there to serve.
“I intend to keep my residents updated and informed as this matter continues throughout the democratic process.
“Thank you/ diolch, Janet”.
