Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Senedd for Bangor, Conwy and Môn, is calling for significant improvements to be made to mental health services in the constituency.

Around 30,000 people in Bangor Conwy Môn, require access to mental health services annually. However, the number of residents, reporting delays to mental health treatment is increasing.

Janet commented:

“I am deeply concerned, by the number of constituents, that have reached out to me for assistance due to the delays in them being able to access suitable and vital mental health provisions.

“Strong and timely mental health support being provided is essential. As without this conditions can become worse, and the constituent can increasingly feel more distressed and alone. This is not acceptable.

“I have tabled a oral question asking: “What is the Welsh Government doing to improve access to mental-health services in Bangor Conwy Môn?”

The First Minister responded; “In line with the 10-year Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy we will improve access to mental health support for all ages. This includes transforming our mental health services to move towards open-access, same-day mental health support, shifting from a traditional model to one focused on recovery and prevention.”

“While this is welcome, urgent action needs to be taken now, to ensure that patients are being seen quickly, and that there is a clear understand of where people can turn to for urgent support.”

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o'r Senedd dros etholaeth Bangor Conwy Môn, yn galw am welliannau sylweddol i wasanaethau iechyd meddwl yn yr etholaeth.

Mae tua 30,000 o bobl yn etholaeth Bangor Conwy Môn angen mynediad at wasanaethau iechyd meddwl bob blwyddyn. Fodd bynnag, mae nifer y preswylwyr sy'n adrodd oedi ar gyfer triniaeth iechyd meddwl yn cynyddu.

Meddai Janet:

"Rwy'n bryderus iawn am nifer yr etholwyr sydd wedi estyn allan ataf am gymorth yn sgil yr oedi cyn eu bod yn gallu cael mynediad at ddarpariaethau iechyd meddwl addas a hanfodol.

"Mae darparu cymorth iechyd meddwl cryf ac amserol yn hanfodol. Heb hyn, gall amodau waethygu a gall yr etholwr deimlo mwy o drallod ac unigrwydd. Nid yw hyn yn dderbyniol.

"Rwyf wedi cyflwyno cwestiwn llafar yn gofyn: "Beth mae Llywodraeth Cymru yn ei wneud i wella mynediad at wasanaethau iechyd meddwl ym Mangor Conwy Môn?"

Ymatebodd y Prif Weinidog; "Yn unol â'r Strategaeth Iechyd Meddwl a Lles 10 mlynedd, byddwn yn gwella mynediad at gymorth iechyd meddwl i bob oedran. Mae hyn yn cynnwys trawsnewid ein gwasanaethau iechyd meddwl i symud tuag at gymorth iechyd meddwl mynediad agored, ar yr un diwrnod, gan symud o fodel traddodiadol i fodel sy'n canolbwyntio ar adfer ac atal."

"Er bod hyn yn cael ei groesawu, mae angen cymryd camau brys nawr er mwyn sicrhau bod cleifion yn cael eu gweld yn gyflym, a bod dealltwriaeth glir o ble y gall pobl droi am gymorth brys."
