Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy has recently conducted a survey that has highlighted the pressing issue of inconsistent mobile signal in Llandudno.

While the results have been shocking, Janet is grateful to the over 300 people who took the time to raise their issues and encourages anyone who hasn’t done so to have their say.

In response, Janet said:

“At a time when businesses are being punished on all fronts, it is clear that the lack of signal is yet another barrier to Aberconwy’s success. From taxi drivers not being able to take payment, to visitors struggling to search for their next adventure, undoubtedly, the concern extends far beyond merely using social media.

“Homes and families are also being affected. 30% of respondents raised concerns for their children whilst being with friends or at school, and 21% about health concerns with the inability to reliably access urgent support from professionals or loved ones.

“This is just not good enough. We had this battle right across the UK at the beginning of the century. We are now two decades in and I hope that the new UK Government will carry on the progress made by the Conservatives and push for wider connectivity across Wales.

“I have also written to the major mobile operators to ask that they provide a plan for improving signal.

“The rest of the world talks about AI, yet Llandudno is still to install the infrastructure to be able to make a call from a mobile phone.”

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi cynnal arolwg yn ddiweddar sydd wedi tynnu sylw at broblem signal ffôn symudol anghyson yn Aberconwy.

Er bod y canlyniadau wedi bod yn syfrdanol, mae Janet yn ddiolchgar i'r dros 300 o bobl a roddodd o’u hamser i nodi eu problemau ac mae’n annog unrhyw un sydd heb wneud hynny i ddweud eu dweud.

Mewn ymateb, dywedodd Janet:

"Ar adeg pan mae busnesau'n cael eu cosbi o bob cyfeiriad, mae'n amlwg bod diffyg signal yn rhwystr arall eto i lwyddiant Aberconwy. O yrwyr tacsi yn methu derbyn taliad, i ymwelwyr sy'n cael trafferth chwilio am eu hantur nesaf, heb os, mae'r pryder yn ymestyn ymhell y tu hwnt i ddefnyddio’r cyfryngau cymdeithasol yn unig.

"Mae teuluoedd a chartrefi hefyd yn cael eu heffeithio. Cododd 30% o'r ymatebwyr bryderon am eu plant pan maen nhw gyda ffrindiau neu yn yr ysgol, a chododd 21% bryderon iechyd gyda'r anallu i gael gafael yn ddibynadwy ar gymorth brys gan weithwyr proffesiynol neu anwyliaid.

"Dyw hyn ddim yn ddigon da. Cawsom y frwydr hon ledled y Deyrnas Unedig ar ddechrau'r ganrif. A ninnau bellach ddau ddegawd i mewn i'r 21ain ganrif, gobeithio y bydd Llywodraeth newydd y DU yn parhau â'r cynnydd a wnaed gan y Ceidwadwyr ac yn pwyso am gysylltedd ehangach ledled Cymru.

Rwyf hefyd wedi ysgrifennu at brif weithredwyr y cwmnïau ffôn symudol mwyaf i ofyn am gynllun ac rwy’n annog unrhyw un i ysgrifennu at eu darparwr i rannu eu pryderon.

"Mae gweddill y byd yn sôn am Ddeallusrwydd Artiffisial, ond dyw Llandudno heb osod yr isadeiledd eto sy’n galluogi pobl i wneud galwadau ffôn symudol."
