Today (Wednesday) marks the seventh annual Back British Farming Day, and Janet Finch-Saunders MS, Shadow Minister for Climate Change, has joined with her Welsh Conservative colleagues to reiterate her support for farmers across Aberconwy and Wales.

Calling on everyone to buy produce from Wales so to help protect farmers, Janet said:

“As a longstanding supporter of local produce and real active farming, I can enthusiastically encourage everyone to buy local.

“Rather than line the pockets of sheep farmers in New Zealand and beef farmers in Brazil, we should spend the British pound on Welsh meat and agricultural produce.

“The wider Welsh agricultural and food supply chain employs 223,100 people across Wales.

“Whilst the Welsh Government is attacking agricultural productivity with devastating policies, the public can show its support to Welsh farmers and all involved in the sector by buying local produce”.

Heddiw (dydd Mercher), nodir Diwrnod Ffermio Prydain am y seithfed flwyddyn yn olynol, ac mae Janet Finch-Saunders AS, Gweinidog Newid Hinsawdd yr Wrthblaid, wedi ymuno â'i chydweithwyr yn y Ceidwadwyr Cymreig i ail-ategu ei chefnogaeth i ffermwyr ar draws Aberconwy a Chymru.

Wrth alw ar bawb i brynu cynnyrch o Gymru er mwyn helpu i  ddiogelu ffermwyr, dywedodd Janet:

“Fel cefnogwr hirsefydlog o gynnyrch lleol a ffermio go iawn, rwy’n annog pawb yn frwdfrydig i brynu'n lleol.

“Yn hytrach na llenwi pocedi ffermwyr defaid yn Seland Newydd a ffermwyr cig eidion ym Mrasil, dylen ni wario'r bunt Brydeinig ar gig a chynnyrch amaethyddol o Gymru.

“Mae cadwyn ehangach amaeth a chyflenwi bwyd Cymru yn cyflogi 223,100 o Fôn i Fynwy.

“Tra bod Llywodraeth Cymru yn ymosod ar gynhyrchiant amaethyddol gyda pholisïau dinistriol, gall y cyhoedd ddangos ei chefnogaeth i ffermwyr Cymru a phawb sy’n ymwneud â'r sector drwy brynu cynnyrch lleol”.
