The Member of the Welsh Parliament, Janet Finch-Saunders, spoke to a packed room at the Craig-y-Don Sport and Community centre during an open surgery event held regarding the recent installation of poles carrying fibre cables across the Liddell Park estate by Openreach.

Commenting after the event Janet said:

“I was pleased to hold an event that allowed so many residents to put their questions and concerns directly to senior officials within Openreach. I would thank Suzanne Rutherford, Eilir Owen and James Roberts for attending this event.

“I was shocked to hear of the multitude of concerns raised regarding lack of a formal consultation being undertaken, the quality of work carried out, poles being placed in areas not indicated on original plans, health and safety concerns during the course of the installation of theses poles and the overwhelming numbers of poles erected on to an open plan estate.

“Additionally, I have been deeply disappointed to discover that many residents reported serious difficulties in contacting Openreach. For a communication company this lack of clear communication is deeply troubling. It is imperative that this organisation must take immediate steps to address this situation.

“Furthermore,  I was  pleased to have obtained a commitment from Suzanne Rutherford, Director Wales and West, Chief Engineers, Openreach, that each of concerns raised by residents in this event will be investigated into following this meeting. It is evident that resolutions to concerns raised must be forthcoming from this organisation. While it is clear that lessons must be learnt it is imperative that action is taken to rectify this situation urgently.

“I look forward to continuing to work with Openreach on the issues raised in this meeting and in seeing remedial action being taken across the Liddell Park estate. The disastrous approach taken by the organisation must be rectified.”

Trigolion blin yn herio Openreach yn ystod cymhorthfa agored

Mewn cymhorthfa agored bu Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o'r Senedd dros Aberconwy, yn siarad ag ystafell orlawn yng Nghanolfan Chwaraeon a Chymunedol Craig-y-Don i drafod y polion cario ceblau ffibr a godwyd gan Openreach yn ddiweddar ar draws stâd Liddle Park.

Ar ôl y digwyddiad, dywedodd Janet:

“Roeddwn yn falch o gynnal digwyddiad a oedd yn gyfle i'r trigolion ofyn eu cwestiynau a lleisio'u pryderon yn uniongyrchol wrth uwch swyddogion yn Openreach. Hoffwn ddiolch i Suzanne Rutherford, Eilir Owen a James Roberts am ddod draw.

“Cefais sioc o glywed y llu o bryderon am ddiffyg ymgynghori ffurfiol, ansawdd y gwaith a wnaed, polion yn cael eu gosod mewn mannau heb eu nodi ar gynlluniau gwreiddiol, pryderon iechyd a diogelwch yn ystod y gwaith gosod a'r holl bolion a godwyd ar hyd a lled y stad agored hon.

“Hefyd, dwi wedi fy siomi'n fawr o ddeall bod llawer o drigolion wedi cael anawsterau difrifol wrth gysylltu ag Openreach. Mae'r diffyg cyfathrebu clir hwn yn peri gofid mawr, yn enwedig i gwmni cyfathrebu. Mae'n hollbwysig bod y sefydliad yn cymryd camau brys i fynd i'r afael â'r mater.

“Ar ben hynny, roeddwn i'n falch o gael addewid gan Suzanne Rutherford, Cyfarwyddwr Cymru a Gorllewin Lloegr, Prif Beirianwyr, Openreach y byddai’n ymchwilio i bryderon y trigolion yn dilyn y cyfarfod. Mae'n amlwg bod yn rhaid i'r sefydliad hwn ddatrys y pryderon a godwyd. Er bod rhaid dysgu gwersi, mae'n hanfodol bod camau'n cael eu cymryd i unioni'r sefyllfa hon ar frys.

“Edrychaf ymlaen at barhau i weithio gydag Openreach ar y problemau a godwyd yn y cyfarfod hwn, a gweld camau adferol yn cael eu cymryd ar draws Liddle Park. Rhaid i’r sefydliad unioni'r dulliau gweithredu trychinebus a ddefnyddiwyd ganddynt. ”
