A leading Welsh aquarium, Anglesey Sea Zoo, has been praised for its outstanding conservation work.

Janet Finch-Saunders MS, Shadow Minister for Climate Change, and Virginia Crosbie, Member of Parliament for Ynys Môn, have spoken of their delight at the efforts of Frankie Hobro, Director, and all the team at the Sea Zoo to protect and enhance marine life.

The aquarium undertakes captive breeding, release, conservation, beach cleaning, and education programmes, and has plans to expand their efforts even further.

Janet Finch-Saunders, who plays a key role in promoting marine policy in the Welsh Parliament, said after the visit:

“The conservation work being carried out at Anglesey Sea Zoo is something the whole team should be very proud of.

“They are currently raising funds to allow them to continue their turtle support scheme through building the UK’s first Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Facility.

“I was also very impressed by the Seahorse Breeding Programme. Anglesey Sea Zoo is one of the only places in the world to have successfully bred the UK native Hippocampus hippocampus in captivity!

“The work being carried out at the Sea Zoo is truly both impressive and important. Thank you to Director Frankie Hobro and the team for all your hard work which is having a positive impact on our united efforts to combat the climate and nature crisis”.

Speaking of the invaluable contribution the Sea Zoo makes to Anglesey and Wales, Virginia said:

“Anglesey Sea Zoo is an amazing attraction here in Wales.

“The aquarium is unique in that it is the only one in the UK to display only British marine life.

“Frankie outlined her ambitious plans to expand and her concerns regarding Welsh Government tourism tax proposals and funding.

“Janet and I will continue to work together to support projects that have a positive impact on our community, climate change, and jobs in North Wales”.

Mae acwariwm blaenllaw yng Nghhymru, Sŵ Môr Môn, wedi cael ei ganmol am ei waith cadwraeth rhagorol.

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders AS, Gweinidog Newid Hinsawdd yr Wrthblaid, a Virginia Crosbie, Aelod Seneddol Ynys Môn, wedi sôn am eu llawenydd gydag ymdrechion Frankie Hobro, Cyfarwyddwr, a'r holl dîm yn y Sŵ Môr i amddiffyn a gwella bywyd morol.

Mae'r acwariwm yn cynnal rhaglenni bridio, rhyddhau, cadwraeth, glanhau traethau, ac addysg, ac mae ganddo gynlluniau i ehangu ei ymdrechion ymhellach fyth.

Meddai Janet Finch-Saunders, sy'n chwarae rhan allweddol wrth hyrwyddo polisi morol yn y Senedd, wedi'r ymweliad:

"Mae'r gwaith cadwraeth sy'n cael ei wneud yn Sŵ Môr Môn yn rhywbeth y dylai'r tîm cyfan fod yn falch iawn ohono.

"Ar hyn o bryd maen nhw'n codi arian i'w galluogi i barhau â'u cynllun cefnogi crwbanod trwy adeiladu’r Cyfleuster Achub ac Adsefydlu Crwbanod cyntaf yn y DU.

"Gwnaeth y Rhaglen Bridio Morfarchogion argraff fawr arnaf. Sŵ Môr Môn yw un o'r unig lefydd yn y byd sydd wedi magu'n morfeirch brodorol y DU yn llwyddiannus mewn caethiwed!

"Mae'r gwaith sy'n cael ei wneud yn y Sŵ Môr yn wirioneddol anhygoel a phwysig. Diolch i'r Cyfarwyddwr Frankie Hobro a'r tîm am eich holl waith caled sy'n cael effaith gadarnhaol ar ein hymdrechion unedig i frwydro yn erbyn yr argyfwng hinsawdd a natur".

Wrth siarad am y cyfraniad amhrisiadwy y mae'r Sŵ Môr yn ei wneud i Ynys Môn a Chymru, dywedodd Virginia:

"Mae Sŵ Môr Môn yn atyniad anhygoel yma yng Nghymru.

"Mae'r acwariwm yn unigryw gan mai dyma'r unig un yn y DU i arddangos bywyd morol Prydain yn unig.

"Amlinellodd Frankie ei chynlluniau uchelgeisiol i ehangu a'i phryderon ynghylch cynigion a chyllid treth twristiaeth Llywodraeth Cymru.

"Bydd Janet a minnau yn parhau i gydweithio i gefnogi prosiectau sy'n cael effaith gadarnhaol ar ein cymuned, newid hinsawdd, a swyddi yn y Gogledd".
