Janet Finch-Saunders MS has welcomed a response from the Welsh Government agreeing to take action on the A470/Pentrefelin junction in Glan Conwy.
It follows a letter written by the Member to Lee Waters, Deputy Minister for Climate Change, highlighting local concerns over an overgrown hedge on the junction.
Given that the junction is one between a Trunk Road and Local Authority highway, the overgrown hedge is potentially dangerous.
Speaking today, Janet said:
“Concerns that have been raised with me by constituents about the safety of the A470/Pentrefelin junction in Glan Conwy.
“As residents have highlighted, it is extremely dangerous joining the A470 at that junction.
“This is due to the fact that when looking left to see what traffic is coming from the South, visibility is severely restricted by the hedge beside the A470.
“Whilst the hedgerow is privately owned, the North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent have been in contact with the landowner, who has agreed to cut down the hedge to ground level for a further 10m to the extent of the current metal bar fence.
“The landowner has also agreed to trim down the hedgerow beyond the metal fence to aid visibility.
“I do believe that such actions will help to improve the highway safety, and I’m glad that the Welsh Government have agreed”.
