The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, Janet Finch-Saunders, has commended the UK Government for announcing that all households will receive £400 off their October energy bills to support families facing rising energy bills.

It has also been unveiled that millions of the most vulnerable households will get £1,200 of support this year with the cost of living crisis.

The plans unveiled by the Chancellor, The Rt. Hon. Rishi Sunak MP, is worth over £6 billion. With the increase to the Household Support Fund alone bringing another £25 million to Wales.

Commenting on the news Janet said:

“Once again, the UK Government has shown its compassion and willingness to support people right across our country. Throughout the pandemic UK Government support provided much needed business support, tax relief and furlough. Now that we face rising energy prices and a wider cost of living crisis, I am delighted to see leadership from the Chancellor, The Rt. Hon. Rishi Sunak MP.

“This financial support will help our society’s most vulnerable weather the current economic climate and will help to confront fuel poverty in Wales, something that repeated Welsh Governments have failed to adequately address.

“This support will help residents right here in Aberconwy and encourage investment in our local economy. Yet again the UK Conservative Government is working to protect families and our economy. ”

Mae’r Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, Janet Finch-Saunders, wedi canmol Llywodraeth y DU am gyhoeddi y bydd pob aelwyd yn derbyn £400 oddi ar eu biliau ynni ym mis Hydref er mwyn cefnogi teuluoedd sy’n wynebu biliau ynni cynyddol uwch.

Datgelwyd hefyd y bydd miliynau o’r aelwydydd mwyaf bregus yn cael £1,200 o gymorth gyda’r argyfwng costau byw eleni.

Mae’r cynlluniau a ddatgelwyd gan y Canghellor, y Gwir Anrhydeddus Rishi Sunak AS, yn werth dros £6 biliwn. Mae’r cynnydd i’r Gronfa Gymorth i Aelwydydd yn unig yn golygu £25 miliwn ychwanegol i Gymru.

Wrth gynnig sylwadau ar y newyddion, dywedodd Janet:

“Unwaith eto, mae Llywodraeth y DU wedi dangos tosturi a pharodrwydd i gefnogi pobl ledled ein gwlad. Drwy gydol y pandemig, bu Llywodraeth y DU yn cynnig cymorth busnes mawr ei angen, rhyddhad ardrethi a’r cynllun ffyrlo. Gan ein bod bellach yn wynebu prisiau ynni cynyddol ac argyfwng costau byw ehangach, mae’n bleser gen i weld y Canghellor, y Gwir Anrhydeddus Rishi Sunak AS, yn cynnig arweiniad.

“Bydd y cymorth ariannol hwn yn helpu’r bobl fwyaf bregus yn ein cymdeithas i oroesi’r hinsawdd economaidd sydd ohoni. Bydd hefyd yn helpu i fynd i’r afael â thlodi tanwydd yng Nghymru, rhywbeth y mae Llywodraethau Cymru wedi methu ag ymateb iddo’n ddigonol dro ar ôl tro.

“Bydd y cymorth hwn yn helpu trigolion yma yn Aberconwy ac yn annog buddsoddiad yn ein heconomi leol. Unwaith eto, mae Llywodraeth Geidwadol y DU yn gweithio i amddiffyn teuluoedd a’n heconomi.”
