As the UK Government announces the roll out of its “My Planned Care” platform, which will provide targeted information for patients waiting for elective surgeries. In response to this welcomed news the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy – Janet Finch-Saunders – has called on the Welsh Government to replicate this scheme in Wales.
However, in response to her Written Question, Eluned Morgan MS, Minister for Health and Social Services, Welsh Government replied:
“Information and communication with patients will be one of the priorities within the National Planned Care Recovery Plan that we will publish later this year.”
Commenting on the matter, Janet said:
“While the UK Government continues to introduce common sense and innovative solutions to confront significant NHS backlogs, here in Wales the Welsh Government is seemingly unwilling to act to address this crisis.
“Shockingly, I continue to support residents who have been waiting for orthopaedic and other elective surgeries for well in excess of two years, with no correspondence, update or information as to when they could expect to receive the procedures they require.
“This uncertainty brings considerable distress to people already in notable discomfort. Given this, there is no doubt in my mind that these residents would benefit from this “My Planned Care” platform.
“However, when I requested that the Minster for Health and Social Services, commit to replicating this UK Government scheme. The response I received simply pushed this issue back into later this year.
“This is simply not good enough, my constituents and the people of Wales do not have time to wait for this Welsh Government to address these vital issues. Especially when we are seeing the UK Government continue to take bold and innovative steps to address NHS backlogs. I urge the Welsh Government to re-think its approach and take urgent action now.”
Mae Llywodraeth y DU wedi cyflwyno platfform "My Planned Care", a fydd yn darparu gwybodaeth wedi'i thargedu ar gyfer cleifion sy'n aros am lawdriniaethau dewisol. Wrth groesawu ac ymateb i'r newyddion hyn, mae Janet Finch-Saunders AS Aberconwy wedi galw ar Lywodraeth Cymru i ailadrodd y cynllun hwn yng Nghymru.
Fodd bynnag, mewn ymateb i'w Chwestiwn Ysgrifenedig, atebodd Eluned Morgan AS, Gweinidog Iechyd a Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol Llywodraeth Cymru:
“Bydd gwybodaeth a chyfathrebu â chleifion yn un o’r blaenoriaethau yn y Cynllun Adfer Gofal wedi’i Gynllunio Cenedlaethol y byddwn yn ei gyhoeddi yn ddiweddarach eleni.”
Wrth sôn am y mater, dywedodd Janet:
“Er bod Llywodraeth y DU yn parhau i gyflwyno atebion synnwyr cyffredin ac arloesol yn wyneb ôl-groniadau sylweddol yn y GIG, yma yng Nghymru mae'n ymddangos bod Llywodraeth Cymru yn amharod i weithredu i fynd i'r afael â'r argyfwng hwn.
“Rwy'n parhau i gefnogi trigolion sydd wedi bod yn aros am lawdriniaethau orthopedig a llawfeddygaeth ddewisol eraill am ymhell dros ddwy flynedd, heb unrhyw ohebiaeth, diweddariad na gwybodaeth am pryd y gallent ddisgwyl cael y triniaethau sydd eu hangen arnynt.
“Mae'r ansicrwydd hwn yn peri cryn ofid i bobl sydd eisoes yn dioddef. Yn fy marn i, does dim amheuaeth y byddai'r trigolion hyn yn elwa ar blatfform "My Planned Care".
“Fodd bynnag, pan ofynnais i'r Gweinidog Iechyd a Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol ymrwymo i gopïo'r cynllun hwn gan Lywodraeth y DU, roedd yr ymateb a gefais yn gwneud dim mwy na gwthio'r mater hwn ymlaen ymhellach i’r flwyddyn.
“Yn syml, dyw hyn ddim yn ddigon da - does gan fy etholwyr a phobl Cymru ddim amser i aros i Lywodraeth Cymru fynd i'r afael â'r materion hollbwysig hyn. Yn enwedig pan welwn ni Llywodraeth y DU yn parhau i gymryd camau beiddgar ac arloesol i fynd i'r afael ag ôl-groniadau'r GIG. Rwy'n erfyn ar Lywodraeth Cymru i ailystyried ei dull gweithredu a chymryd camau brys rŵan hyn."
