On Saturday 31st May, Llandudno Museum held an informal launch and preview of their special exhibition marking the Rail200 event, which is being celebrated nationally.

The exhibition, at Llandudno Museum was opened to the public yesterday.

Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, was honoured to attend the event, and enjoyed learning about and celebrating our proud railway history.

Commenting on the Rail200 exhibition, Janet said:

“I would like to extend my thanks to Philip Evans JP, Trustee of Llandudno Museum, and all those involved in the exhibition for the incredible event.

“It is right that we celebrate 200 years of railways, and the remarkable journey train travel has been on.

“While we haven’t had rails in Llandudno for that length of time, it is no doubt that when George Stephenson’s steam-powered locomotive undertook its journey on 27th September 1825, it started a process that ultimately led to our constituency and country being changed for the better.

“As we mark this anniversary we should celebrate our proud railway history and continue to champion improvements to services locally.”

Ddydd Sadwrn 31 Mai, cynhaliodd Amgueddfa Llandudno lansiad a rhagolwg anffurfiol o'u harddangosfa arbennig i nodi digwyddiad Rail200, sy'n cael ei ddathlu'n genedlaethol.

Agorwyd yr arddangosfa, yn Amgueddfa Llandudno, i'r cyhoedd ddoe.

Roedd hi’n anrhydedd gan Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, i fynychu'r digwyddiad, a chafodd flas yn dathlu ac yn dysgu mwy am hanes ein rheilffyrdd balch.

Wrth sôn am arddangosfa Rail200, dywedodd Janet:

"Hoffwn ddiolch i Philip Evans YH, Ymddiriedolwr Amgueddfa Llandudno, a phawb a gymerodd ran yn yr arddangosfa am y digwyddiad anhygoel.

"Mae'n iawn ein bod ni'n dathlu 200 mlwyddiant y rheilffyrdd, a thaith ryfeddol teithio ar drên.

"Er nad yw’r rheilffyrdd wedi bod yn Llandudno gydol y cyfnod hwn, pan ddechreuodd locomotif stêm George Stephenson ar ei thaith gyntaf ar 27 Medi 1825, does dim dwywaith iddi arwain yn y pen draw at newid er gwell yn ein hetholaeth ac yn ein gwlad.

"Wrth i ni nodi'r pen-blwydd hwn, dylem ddathlu ein hanes rheilffyrdd gyda balchder a pharhau i hyrwyddo gwelliannau i wasanaethau lleol."
